SPECIAL MESA SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
Trip to EL Salvador -- San Martin Orphanage Project

The San Martin Orphanage is a residential
facility for special-needs orphans and young adults located not far
from San Salvador, El Salvador. Many of its residents are so severely
handicapped they cannot walk.
In recent years MESA has worked with the San Salvador Sur Rotary Club
to equip a new kitchen for the orphanage, and, more recently, to
convert its old kitchen to a group dining room. We are now planning an
opportunity for Rotarians and friends to join in finishing this project
during a four-day trip to El Salvador in early
Sepember.
During the day our group will do hands-on work, putting finishing
touches on the dining room, interacting with orphanage residents and
doing cleanup of the orphanage grounds. The group will stay in the San
Salvador Hilton Princess Hotel, interactions with Rotarian hosts, and
meetings with representatives of the First Lady of El Salvador.
The group will travel to San Salvador on September 7 and return on
September 11. The cost of this trip, including airfare, hotel,
transportation and food should be less that $1,000 per person.
If you would like to join this group, please contact MESA Chair Randy Diehl at
419 -420-3538 for assistance with airline and hotel reservations.
