Establishing and maintaining close ties with an existing network of Rotary and community healthcare leaders in supported countries. Members of the MESA Steering Committee are regularly in contact with their counterparts in Central America. For other areas of the world, ad hoc project coordinators provide the communication necessary for mission success.

Participating in project fairs in Central America. Each January a Central American country hosts a project fair known as the Uniendo Conference. Rotarians and healthcare professionals from allover North America join in to help identify the needs and plan strategies in the fight against the ravages of poverty, disease, hunger and illiteracy.

Impact: We Deliver

How can we maintain this level of activity? Since 2002, each year, MESA has shipped an average of twenty 40 foot cargo containers of donated medical equipment and supplies to Central America, Europe and Africa. It has also shipped a yearly average of 7 emergency vehicles {ambulances, fire trucks, wheelchair ready vans) to Central AmerIca.

How can we maintain this level of activity?

Identifying needs. Through contacts with Rotary organizations, health and educational institutions and attending conferences, such as Uniendo, strategic planning and coordination is conducted so that the identified need is fulfilled by placing the requested medical and humanitarian aide in the correct hands.

Evaluating requests. This is accomplished through a Project Application form. Upon receipt the application is evaluated by the MESA Board for action.

Procuring and shipping. All medical equipment and supplies that are donated are inventoried and stored in our warehouse facility. They are subsequently shipped in 40 foot cargo containers to consignees certified to receive duty free items. In order to insure proper distribution to the end user, all projects are Rotary to Rotary.
