MESA Project Starts Four

New Resource Centers in Belize

Resource Centers International (RCI), a recently sponsored education project of MESA, opened 7 Resource Centers in Belize this past year. Each center acts as a place of learning where the community can access computers, books, movies and educational games and toys for each member of the community.

With the help of MESA and several District Rotary Clubs, we completed 4 new resource centers in the Spanish Lookout area of the Cayo District of Belize in December. We also contracted to set up 4 new centers in Mayan communities in Belize in March 2011. The ten person project team going to Belize in March will be made up of seven District Rotarians and Rotaractors and three non-Rotarians.

If you would like to find out more about this program please check the RCI website: ww.resourcecentersinternational.org. Your Rotary Club can also have a presentation and find out how it can become actively involved in this international project by contacting Mel Honig: phone 419 843 4459: email, gailmel75@yahoo.com.

Already eleven of our District Clubs as well as MESA have sent team members to Belize, ‘adopted’ a community in Belize, given financial support or donated equipment and supplies.
